How to get blood out of carpet

How to get blood out of carpetAccidents occur unexpectedly; you never know when and where you may get a cut. So you or your child may get a cut when you least expect it and leave a blood stain on your white carpet. Of course, you need to attend to the cut.

But in addition to this, you also have to work at removing the stain as blood stains are messy, and if left to dry, can get difficult to remove. Don’t worry if you don’t have any stain remover on hand to remove the stain as some household products can just as effectively get blood out of your carpet! (source)

Cold water

The first option is to use cold, and not hot or warm water. Heat practically cooks the blood and this helps it permanently set in while cold water helps at removing the stain. But don’t make the mistake of scrubbing the blood stain; it has to be blotted.

Scrubbing only makes the stain spread, and the fibers end up looking worn out. Keep applying water to the stain, and blot using a dry and clean white towel till the stain disappears.

Hydrogen peroxide

Did you know that hydrogen peroxide is great for removing blood stains? Blot out as much of the stain first, and then apply a little of diluted hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain.

It starts foaming on contact; so keep your towel nearby and start blotting the foam immediately. Repeat till you are satisfied with the stain removal. Don’t worry, you needn’t rinse off the hydrogen peroxide as it sunlight changes it to water.

Foam shaving cream

Foam shaving cream is the best way to remove fresh blood stains. Just blot any blood which hasn’t absorbed with a dry, white towel and then spurt some shaving cream. Gently rub the stain after fifteen minutes using a towel wet with warm water. Blot using a damp towel to remove the foam and vacuum away any residue after drying.

Baking soda

Baking soda also helps at removing blood stains. Make a paste of two parts baking soda and one part cold water and apply to the stain with your finger. Rub the paste into the stain using the back of a spoon and rinse away with cold water after five minutes. Wipe away the water using a wet, clean rag, let the spot dry and repeat till the stain disappears.

So if you act quickly you needn’t worry if there’s a blood stain on your carpet as these household products will help remove the stain!

What is insomnia? (Symptoms and Treatment Methods)

What is insomnia? If you find it difficult falling asleep, don’t worry; this is a problem practically 70% of the world’s population suffers from. Insomnia is a sleep disorder where the sufferer finds it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep which leaves them with poor quality sleep.

To avoid insomnia forst off all you need to choose the best body pillow.

The common symptoms of insomnia are emotional instability, irritability, change in sleep patterns and a state of confusion while working which leads to lack of concentration and coordination. Other related symptoms are fatigue because of insufficient sleep, loss of memory, depression and reduced work efficiency.

People suffering from insomnia end up waking up too early in the morning and may also wake up at night to find it difficult falling sleep once again. This has led to sufferers treating the condition using sleeping pills ranging from barbiturates to benzodiazepines. (source)

Good sleeping habits

However as these tablets have its share of side effects, its better treating insomnia by practicing these good sleep habits or hygiene.

  • Going to sleep and getting up at the same time every day
  • Avoiding naps in the day as it makes you less sleepy at night.
  • Avoiding nicotine, alcohol and caffeine late at night as alcohol can interfere with sleep quality and stimulating caffeine and nicotine prevent you from falling asleep.
  • Regular exercise helps but don’t exercise within four hours of sleeping as it stimulates you and makes it difficult falling asleep.
  • While heavy meals should be avoided late at night, light snacks before bedtime can help you sleep.
  • Make sure your bedroom is comfortable, dark and quiet. Use a sleeping mask if light is a problem and ear plugs for any noise problems.
  • Following a routine before sleeping like reading a book or listening to music helps you fall asleep.
  • Not using your bed for anything else but sleep or sex.
  • Getting up and reading or doing something which isn’t stimulating so that you feel sleepy when you can’t fall asleep.
  • Creating a to-do list before sleeping if you can’t sleep because something is bothering you.

In case of chronic insomnia, it is best treated by treating underlying conditions which cause the insomnia like a heavy work schedule, unnecessary stress and an unhealthy lifestyle. If this doesn’t work, your doctor may suggest behavioral therapy where you change the habits which worsen insomnia and learn sleep promoting habits like relaxation and sleep reconditioning.

It’s only if your insomnia affects you so much that you can’t function in the day because you feel sleepy and tired that your doctor may prescribe sleeping pills. However this will only be for a short time after which you need to practice good sleeping habits.
